PDF Algo Pro privacy policy

What the PDF Algo Pro app does with your information, in plain language.

What this policy covers

This policy covers the PDF Algo Pro app for iPhone and iPad, including test builds distributed through TestFlight. It does not cover the algorythmos.com website, which has its own privacy policy.

Who we are

PDF Algo Pro is published by Algorythmos Pty Ltd (ABN 22 701 006 626), registered office Level 1, 457–459 Elizabeth Street, Surry Hills NSW 2010, Australia. We handle personal information under Australia’s Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles and, for people in the European Union and the United Kingdom, under the GDPR and the UK GDPR.

The short version

Three things to know:

  • The app has no account, no advertising and no tracking.
  • Your documents, and the questions you ask about them, stay on your device. The app does not send them to us or to anyone else.
  • We collect no personal information through the app. We receive only what you choose to email us.

What stays on your device

The app stores the following on your device only. We cannot see it or retrieve it.

  • Your documents, in the PDF Algo Pro folder you can see in the Files app.
  • Signatures you save, in the Keychain on your device.
  • A search index of your documents’ titles, tags and recognised text, so the app can search them. Titles and tags are also offered to Spotlight. Document text is offered to Spotlight unless you turn that off in Settings or turn on App Lock.
  • Earlier versions of documents you have changed, kept for 30 days so you can restore them. You can delete them at any time in Settings.
  • Counts of the summaries and answers produced in the last 30 days, shown in Settings under Privacy report. Only the counts are kept, never your questions, answers or documents.
  • Summaries of crashes and hangs reported by iOS, kept for up to 30 days.
  • Your settings.
  • If you back up your device to iCloud or to a computer, your documents are part of that backup, under your own Apple Account. We have no access to it.

Permissions the app asks for

The app does not ask for your location, your contacts, the microphone or permission to track you. It asks for the following, and only when you use the feature:

  • Camera: when you scan a document. Scans stay on your device.
  • Face ID, Touch ID or Optic ID: if you turn on App Lock. Your device does the check and tells the app only whether it succeeded. The app never receives your biometric data.
  • Photos: when you turn photos into a PDF, you choose them in the system photo picker. The app has no access to the rest of your library.

Summaries, answers and extraction

These features use Apple Intelligence on your device. Your documents, questions and answers are processed on the device and are not sent to us. This version of the app has no cloud AI option. If a later version offers one, it will stay off until you turn it on, and this policy will be updated first.

What we receive

The app sends us nothing by itself. We receive information only when you choose to email us, and we use it only to answer you and to fix the problem you describe:

  • Your email address and whatever you write.
  • If you use Report a problem in Settings with the diagnostics summary switched on, the draft email includes that summary, which you can read and delete before sending: the app version and build, the iOS version, the state of the search index, an approximate count of your documents (for example 11 to 100), counts of events and errors, and summaries of crashes and hangs. It never includes your documents, their names or their contents.

What Apple shares with us

Apple distributes the app. If you have agreed in your device settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple gives us crash and usage statistics that do not identify you. When you use a TestFlight build, Apple collects crash logs and any feedback or screenshots you choose to send, and shares them with us, together with your email address if you were invited by email. Apple handles this information under its own privacy policy.

Other companies

The app contains no analytics, advertising or tracking software and no third-party software development kits. We do not sell personal information or share it for advertising. One provider processes information for us: Zoho Corporation (Zoho Mail) delivers and stores the emails you send us, in its Australian data centre. Zoho acts only on our instructions, under data processing terms that require it to protect those emails to at least the standard of this policy.

Information sent overseas

The app sends us nothing, so it sends nothing overseas. Emails you send us are stored in Australia. If you write to us from another country, your message is therefore transferred to Australia.

Keeping and deleting

You control what is on your device, and you can ask us to delete what we hold:

  • Documents stay on your device until you delete them. A deleted document goes to Recently Deleted, where you can remove it for good.
  • Deleting the app removes its documents and data from your device. Delete a saved signature in the app first if you do not want it kept in the Keychain.
  • We keep emails you send us for as long as we need to help you, and for no more than 12 months after our last reply, unless the law requires longer.
  • To have your emails deleted sooner, write to pdfalgopro@algorythmos.com.
  • The app collects no data, so there is no consent to withdraw. You can remove the camera or Face ID permission at any time in the Settings app of your device.

Children

The app is a general-purpose tool and is not aimed at children. It collects no personal information from anyone, children included.

Your rights

You can ask to see or correct the personal information we hold about you, which can only be emails you have sent us. If the GDPR or the UK GDPR applies to you, we handle those emails on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering you, and you can also ask us to delete them, to restrict or object to their use, or to send them to you in a portable format. Write to pdfalgopro@algorythmos.com. We reply within one month.

Security

Your documents are protected by the security of your device. App Lock can also require Face ID, Touch ID, Optic ID or your passcode to open the app, and it hides your documents in the app switcher. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the emails we hold.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we handled your information, write to us first at pdfalgopro@algorythmos.com. If we cannot resolve it, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au) or, in the European Union, to your data protection authority, which in France is the CNIL (cnil.fr).

Changes to this policy

We update this page before the app changes how it handles information, for example if a later version adds an optional cloud feature. The version and date at the top show the policy in force. Each change is listed in the version history below and mentioned in the app’s release notes.
